7 signs there are cracks in the Warriors’ armor

The Golden State Warriors lost to the Phoenix Suns on Sunday night.

Let that sink in. Upsets happen in the NBA all the time. But when do the dynasty Dubs with their All-Star-filled lineup lose to a team tanking for Zion Williamson?

The Warriors are still the favorites to win another championship. Yet this statement is absolutely true: In the Steve Kerr era, this now feels like the most vulnerable Golden State team we've seen. There are some noticeable cracks in the armor that could mean something … or this could be a late-season nadir that gets the team to figure out their problems and rally for one more championship before certain big names leave for other franchises.

Here are those signs something is amiss:

1. The Warriors lost to the Suns
I can't stop repeating it. How did that happen!? They've also lost to the Magic recently while putting up a scant 96 points. More to the point, the Warriors have lost recent games to fellow Western contenders in the Blazers and Rockets. Their two next games are at Houston and Oklahoma City. If they lose those two contests, the buzz about their vulnerability will get VERY loud.

2. Kerr might be tired of Draymond Green

We know Kerr and Green have a history, so this could be just another episode of them butting heads … or Kerr is truly tired of having to deal with the outspoken forward who has struggled with his shot this year.

3. Klay Thompson complained about Warriors fans

Uh-oh. This isn't a good look. You don't want to blame die-hards at this time of year with the playoffs coming up fairly soon.

4. Is Kevin Durant okay?

He turned his ankle on Sunday and left the game early:It "sounds minor," but it's the same ankle he hurt against the 76ers, so what does that mean?

5. Is DeMarcus Cousins' defense a problem?
This is a clip from last week, but couple this with the team reportedly signing Andrew Bogut for the stretch run, it could be a sign

6. The Warriors are wasting good starts with bad second quarters lately
From NBC Sports:

The Warriors were outscored 40-28 in the second quarter, allowing the Suns to shoot 71.4 percent, as they erased a 16-point deficit.

Golden State's second-quarter performance was a carbon copy of the showing in Friday's win over the Denver Nuggets, when the Warriors let a 19-point lead go to waste before halftime.

Maybe this team should do its own version of early "playoff mode."

7. If they keep this up, they might not clinch home-court throughout the Western Conference playoffs
The Nuggets - who the Dubs beat last week - are just 1.5 games behind. The Rockets have won eight in a row and are four games behind.
